As a remote worker, there are a couple of things that you can put in place to make your work easier. Asides from the basic necessities like electricity, a quiet environment and of course, a stable internet connection, some things could make working from home a dream for you. We’ll highlight some of these things in this blog for you!
- Blue light blocking glasses: Blue light exposure normally comes from the sun but now, there’s a lot more exposure coming from screens. Wearing blue light blocking glasses helps to combat the effect of blue light. Some of the benefits of wearing blue light glasses include better sleep, lesser eye strain and fewer headaches. If you are a remote worker who does not make use of blue light glasses, you’ll realize that these benefits are things you might have been deprived of. If you know you’ll be staring at your screen for a long time, you should get blue light glasses.
- Ergonomic chairs: Say goodbye to bad posture with ergonomic chairs. These chairs have a full-length design and support for a natural posture. These chairs are very useful for maintaining good posture, enhanced productivity, reduced back and neck pains and even increased blood circulation. All these benefits packed in one piece of furniture? It’s definitely worth it to get one for yourself.
- Wireless mouse: There’s something about a wireless mouse that just makes it better than a wired one. It makes it easier to work from your laptop.
- Headphones: Even remote workers have a team and having teams means that there is a necessity to collaborate with other people. Having headphones makes it easier to have meetings with team members or attend to urgent calls from your boss.
- Planner: Working within an office space could mean that your boss could pass by your office at any time to remind you of pending deliverables. Working from home unfortunately (or fortunately?) does not leave that option open. It is necessary for any productive remote worker to invest in a planner to keep track of deliverables and assigned tasks to avoid slacking at work. A planner will also be useful to help you map out your day and ensure you work within working hours.
Those are five things we suggest for any remote worker. Of course, this list is not exhaustible. These are just things we highly recommend if you want to start working from home. We call it “the remote worker starter pack”. What is missing from your starter pack?
